Class Tonight!!

Don't forget about our Biggest Loser class tonight: "Mental Blocks to Healthy Living"!!! It will be great! It starts at 6:30 pm and is in the Aggie Village Community Center!

The discussion will focus on common thinking errors that we may have that keep us from being healthy, such as: “I will start tomorrow”; “I need to get my money’s worth”; “I’ve already blown it today so I might as well eat up”; Comparing self to ideal self; Bad self-talk; Eating as a way to cope; etc.

Children are welcome!! Hope to see you there!

February MASA Gram

A Message from Your Area Coordinator
Shannon Jolley

Dear MASA Residents:
Happy February! It has been a very interesting winter to say the least. It’s easy to feel blue this time of year, so I encourage you to attend our Biggest Loser exercise classes and our Extension workshops in the Community Center. Meeting new people and working out is a great way to beat the winter blues.

Our annual Valentine’s Dinner is scheduled for 6pm on Monday, February 14 in the Lundstrom Student Center. I encourage both our single and married residents to come. We will be having fabulous food (smoked chicken paprika!) and fun games. Let MASA be your cheap date for the holiday!

I just completed the selection process for 2011 RAs. Those individuals and their locations will be posted in a future Gram. If you are interested in working for me next year, you are welcome to bring a resume to the area office. If I have any positions open sooner, I will contact those who turn in a resume for interviews.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I can be reached at shannon.jolley@usu.edu or 797-3263.

Tell somebody you love them this month!

A Friendly Reminder from Facilities

The "Utah Indoor Clean Air Act" (1995) states: "a person may not smoke in a building or portion of a building that is owned, leased, or occupied by the state or any state agency."  Utah State University is a state-owned agency; therefore, all Housing property is subject to this act.  Housing can levy fines in the amount of $25 for failure to comply, and/or seek eviction.

Smoking outside must take place a minimum of twenty-five (25) feet away from any building entrance, exit, air-intake, and windows that can be opened.  Used cigarettes must be properly disposed of and not left on the grounds.  Improper disposal is considered littering and could result in a fine of $299.

FRONT OFFICE REMINDERS

It is NOT too late to join the Biggest Loser competition or the Healthy Habits Makeover.  Come into the office to get more information! The winners will receive a $250 rent credit! Also, mark your calendars! On February 17th we will have a presentation on Mental Blocks to Healthy Living Part 1.  This will be at 6:30 in the Aggie Village Community Center!

Aggies Think, Care, Act Award for January goes to Esthela Rojas!

Esthela has always been a strong part of the West Stadium Community. She is always striving to improve the environment around her, whether it is at her kids’ schools, through ESL Programs, through her teaching at the University, or just being a good neighbor and taking meals to those who may need some extra support. Esthela is a great example of someone who loves their culture and isn't afraid to share it with those around her. We have felt so privileged to have Esthela in our community.
Congratulations, Esthela!
